Cowgate Comic Centre

Scotland may be the cultural home of the comic strip, with the first issue of The Northern Looking Glass released on an early Lithographic printing press in 1825. Cowgate lies in a natural ditch in Edinburgh Old Town. It’s name originates from medieval days when cattle were herded down the street to Grass Market. It is characterised by narrow passages leading to Protest Row, with dynamic multi storey buildings and second street levels bridging above. Surrounded by buildings of power, my design for the Cowgate Comic Centre rises up to challenge conventional news by broadcasting engaging content and public information via comic book format.
